A pair of Bald Eagles, Haliaeetus leucocephalus, built a nest in 2009 in the John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge at Tinicum, immediately across Route 95 from the Philadelphia Airport. They successfully raised two young eagles in 2-10 They use this dead tree as a perch, where I photographed this one. The Bald Eagle has made a major recovery from its threatened status and each year more nests appear in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and elsewhere. |
